Ellyn Michalak is a Vice President within United Minds and based in New York City. Ellyn specializes in developing and executing strategic communication plans and employee engagement initiatives, with an expertise in our internal and employer branding offerings. She also was instrumental in developing the United Minds Forward to Work: Equipping Managers for Success in a New Landscape training series.
Currently, Ellyn serves as the day-to-day lead for all Novartis Pharma’s employee engagement and change management work streams. This includes standing up and executing on key priorities for the global employee and executive center of excellence, as well as ongoing leader alignment and employee and executive communications within the US market.
Ellyn has also served as the client account lead for Takeda Pharmaceuticals, managing day-to-day operations for the development and rollout of a new internal brand for the company’s R&D function amidst a large scale organizational transformation. In this role, Ellyn helped to design and facilitate two workshops and one half-day training with more than 80 of the organization’s top leaders (both in Japan and in the U.S.). She also developed and executed on creative plans to roll out the new brand internally to employees before launching the brand externally.
Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Ellyn worked in the Communication and Change Management Practice at Towers Watson . While there, Ellyn served as onsite change management support during a major pharmaceutical company’s separation into two organizations. She also conceptualized and created interactive content for a virtual environment that explained the Affordable Care Act and how to navigate the Health Insurance Marketplace to 100,000 employees at one of the world’s largest fast food restaurants.
Ellyn holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Notre Dame. She is also proficient in Spanish and has written a one act play that was produced and performed at the Peoples Improv Theater in New York, and has completed Improvisational Theater training programs at two of Chicago’s world-renowned institutions, The Second City and iO (formerly the Improv Olympic).
